Our ICS Under-19 Volleyball and Soccer teams competed in the RIS Invitational Tournament September 4th. Our Under-17 teams competed in the Bangkok Patana School Invitational Tournament as well. Both tournaments were extremely competitive, as ICS competed against some of the largest international schools across Bangkok. We are pleased to announce that the U-19 Boys Soccer team received the third place medal, beating RIS and Harrow along the way towards achieving the bronze. Our U-19 Girls Volleyball team also received the third place prize, beating BPS in the third place match. Our U-17 Girls Volleyball team also received the bronze medal, defeating NIST, leading to a place in the top three. Finally, our U-17 Boys Volleyball team won the gold medal as they played four games without ever losing a set to BPS, ISB, RIS, and NIST. Well done to all of the teams that competed. We are very proud of you all! |

September 3, 2010 Dear ICS Parents, Important News about Influenza Prevention and Protection It appears that the season for increased cases of influenza or flu is upon us. We have had a few confirmed cases of Type A influenza and at least one confirmed case of H1N1 at ICS this school year. We all need to work together to contain the spread of these viruses. Follow these guidelines to protect yourself, your child, and the ICS community: Students who are sick with an influenza-like illness which means having two out of four of these symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat and runny nose are to stay home and minimize contact with others, until they have been symptom-free and without medication for 24 hours. Other symptoms can include body aches, headaches, chills, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea. - Students who appear to have an influenza-like illness when they are at school will be isolated and sent home. These students will not be allowed to return to school for 7 days from the time they were sent home from school and must be free of fever and other symptoms to return. Please make sure the school has your contact information and pick up your child promptly if the ICS health center calls you to pick up your child. Take your child to the doctor and fax the medical certificate to ICS at 02-338-0778.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with bare hands.
- Avoid close contact with persons with flu symptoms.
- If anyone has symptoms, they should not be out in the community except to seek medical care.
- If your child is at high risk for contracting this flu or has a compromised immune system, you should take additional precautions when they are around others.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated as we each do our part to prevent the spread of influenza within our ICS community. ICS will continue to monitor government and international agency guidance and follow recommendations to ensure student safety. Sincerely, Darren M. Gentry Headmaster |

August 27, 2010 Dear High School Parents and Students, I am very pleased to report a successful start to the 2010-2011 school year. The reason for this success is due to the combined efforts of you, as parents, our students, faculty, staff and the goodness of our God. The ICS Pledge of Cooperation form that was signed by both parents and students affirms the benefits of cooperating and living within established guidelines. Those benefits, both in the short and long term, are a greater sense of accomplishment and the betterment of our ICS community to the glory of God. Our faculty and staff have been faithful, diligent, hard working, caring and committed in the God-given assignment they have embraced – teaching at ICS. There is a genuine love at ICS for your children/ their students…and it shows. All of this is possible because of the God we serve. He is good. He is love. And He watches over us to protect, provide, prosper and enable. Our students have been fulfilling their role in many ways as well -- from wearing their IDs consistently (almost), to getting to their classes on time, to being respectful, to learning the subject material taught by their teachers, which brings me to this important calendar reminder. Monday, September 6, is Mid 1st Quarter. Hard to believe, but four weeks of school will already be history. Grades will be tabulated and progress reports will be out on RenWeb by September 13. Please be sure to take advantage of the RenWeb training session to be held for parents on this same date, Monday, September 13 at 7:30 AM in the multi-purpose room on the high schools side of the campus. Keep these other activities in mind as you and your children prepare your calendars. 1. LifeGroups meet every Tuesday after school. 2. Friday Night Fellowship meets every Friday night. 3. After School Enrichment Classes begin the week of September 6. 4. There will be no school on Friday, September 10 as teachers attend our first In-service day. 5. From Mr. Jack, Athletic director: On Saturday Sept 4th all four varsity teams will be playing at RIS (map and school link on ICS athletic website) in their friendship tournament. This will be a unique opportunity to watch all four 1st season varsity teams play at the same location. The tournament will start at 8am and finish around 4pm. If you have the time then come out and support our Varsity Boys Soccer, Varsity Girls Soccer, Varsity Boys Volleyball, and Varsity Girls Volleyball teams at the RIS friendly tournament on Sept 4th. We’re looking forward to a great September. Thank you for being part of the ICS community. Coram Deo, Gary Opfer High School Principal |

 At International Community School
August 30, 2010 To Parents of ICS Students,
ICS is excited to announce our new school management system – RenWeb School Management – a private and secure parent portal that allows parents to view academic information specific to their own children.
We are no longer using Edline like we did last school year. ICS switched to RenWeb with the goal of improving our communication with you about your child’s academic development.
Parents, you are invited to come and see how RenWeb works on Monday September 13 at 7:30am in the multi-purpose room on the high school side of the Bedford Building at ICS.
On the same day September 13, ICS will enable parents to access RenWeb. Before this, ICS will send out login information to your email address on file in the ICS registrar’s office.
Then all you need is an internet-capable computer to view information such as:
| Attendance | Transcripts | | Grade Book Grades | Homework Assignments | | Mid-term Progress Reports | Teacher Email Addresses | | Quarterly Report Cards | Other Useful School Information |
RenWeb offers two versions of ParentsWeb depending on your Internet access: a low-speed version for dial-up users and ParentsWeb 2.0 for users with high-speed Internet access. To learn more about ParentsWeb 2.0, please click on the attached link or cut and paste it into your web browser:www.renweb.com/robohelp/pwdemo/parentswebdemo_demo.htm In closing, we look forward to communicating more effectively with you about your child’s educational progress. Remember the orientation to RenWeb ParentsWeb on Monday, September 13 at 7:30 am in the secondary multi-purpose room. Sincerely,
Rebel Houston Student Services Coordinator |
