Jack Barr Jr. was raised in King, North Carolina. He graduated from South Stokes High School in 1997. From there he attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, on a baseball scholarship, and Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Johnson with an undergraduate degree in Bible and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Following graduation, Jack worked at Tennessee Meiji Gakuin High School (Japanese boarding school), while completing his Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Regents University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 2002, he joined the athletic staff at Johnson as Head Baseball Coach. During this time, Jack led the baseball team to their first district championship and received “Coach of the Year” honors during the 2004 season. While coaching at Johnson, he also coached Varsity Boys Basketball and Varsity Girls Basketball at Tennessee Meiji Gakuin High School. After two years of coaching basketball at TMG, he led the Varsity Boys Basketball Team to their first winning season. Jack was ordained by Poplar Springs Church in King, North Carolina on July 20th 2003. In 2012 Jack completed his second Master's Degree in Physical Education from Canisius College in New York. Jack is married to Jana Barr, and they have one daughter, Marley Barr. |
