Letter from Elementary Principal

Elsie PoosawtseeWelcome to the Elementary Division of ICS.

Students from four-year-old kindergarten through fifth grade blossom in our caring, nurturing environment, discovering new ideas and knowledge about themselves, their community and their world. The small class size promotes individual attention within the classroom setting. ICS elementary focuses on two aspects of growing and developing: To Be and To Do.

First, ICS seeks to build the inner being, the inner person, through sharing life principles from the Bible. We model for them and nurture in our students character traits such as respect, love, thankfulness, joy, peace, self-control, patience, and diligence.

Second, ICS wants its students to do… to actively participate in their own education, to explore new concepts, and to show us what they can really do, under the tutorage of our teachers. Active and creative learning, combined with an environment of fairness, caring, and acceptance of each child, are the hallmarks of the elementary school.

Foundational subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies prepare students for further study in secondary school. Music, physical education, library, computer, Thai, and art classes enable students to explore their interests and talents beyond the academic field. For students who need extra help with English, ICS offers English as a Second Language program. Students participate in service projects such as collecting toys for orphans, donating clothes for the poor, or giving funds to a community help organization. Field trips to places such as the Planetarium, Safari World, Science Museum, and factories connect the students to the greater community, helping them learn more about the real world.

I hope that you will give your child the ICS experience!
